Proposing Innovative Directions

As civilians who work in the commercial sector, we have a taste of what modern technologies and practices can achieve. As Marines, we understand the gap between what the commercial sector has to offer and what the Marines utilize for operations. Bridging that gap is one of our major focuses.

Integrating Technology

Commercial innovation generally moves faster than the DoD's acquisition process can accommodate. We support acquisition by taking technologies into real training environments to test and gauge compatibility with military operations.

Supporting DoD Innovation

Efforts to bettering the technological prowess of our military expands beyond the scope of the U.S. Marine Corps. To maximize our effectiveness, to prevent unnecessary duplication of efforts and to prevent stepping on each other's toes, it is vital that the SJIU works with other teams across both the Marine Corps and the broader DoD.
